  When in good working order, this is exactly what I wanted for a vacuum. It has good, strong suction which is variable. The attachments work well. The only problem is that it’s a bit heavy and hard to move around, but that would likely be true for most vacuums. However, within a few months, the handle/latch to the chamber where dirt goes broke, and the chamber doesn’t latch closed. It’s still usable, but I quite unhappy about the construction of this thing since I was not pulling hard when it broke. I’d recommend getting a more sturdily built model.

  I received it in record time. However, I am unable to comment on performance at this time as I have not used it as yet. When I do I will write a review.

  My family and I have had nothing but problems with this model. After 10 years our previous vacuum finally kicked the bucket, and my parents decided on this particular model in hopes that it would be as durable as our previous vacuum. We waited over a month for it to arrive. My dad wrote a previous review on the poor service Amazon and Eureka when it still hadn’t arrived, at which point one of the companies (not sure which one) messaged him and told him they would send him the vacuum if he could take the review down. We received our vacuum less than a week after that.

  We were deceived by the unusually good customer service and found, much to our chagrin, that this vacuum is poorly manufactured and a lot of trouble to maintain. Not only are the bags nowhere to be found in any store within a 30-mile radius of us (We live in the Bay Area), but right after the warranty expired the vacuum wouldn’t turn off even if you pushed the switch to “Off.” You would have to unplug and plug in the vacuum in order to actually turn it on/off. My parents tried to send it back and have it repaired but we were told that the warranty was expired and they could not do that for us.

  Now the vacuum won’t even pick up dirt; intermittently if you jiggle or turn the hose where the vacuum connects to the main body then the wire might contact and the vacuum’s pressure will resume; otherwise it’s just the floor cleaning part that actually turns on. Once again we are going to try and contact the company and ask (again) to have it repaired, but so far we are very dissatisfied customers who were sent a shoddy and poorly-made vacuum just because Amazon and Eureka didn’t want a bad review for this product, and in the meanwhile we cannot clean our own house because of all the trouble we’ve gone through so far. This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with any product I’ve ordered through Amazon.

  I love this vacuum, it’s lightweight and gets everything off of the carpet even cat fur.

  This vacuum came today and since my house has not been vacuumed for about 2 weeks, I got it right out and started cleaning.

  What I like:

  It’s very quiet considering the power that it has. You can actually have a conversation while it’s operating. Also, the fact that the hose can rotate all the way around is great, the old one did not and that got to be a hassle. The hose is very long, much longer than one’s I’ve used in the past. That comes in handy for doing shelves, picture frames, tops of doors, door frames, windows, curtain tops, you name it. It’s very light and is easy to move from room to room. The power head has a light, and while I know that’s been a feature on vacuums for the last 25 years, it’s new to me since the vacuum I had was about that old. I like the fact that you can turn it off at the handle instead of on the machine part. I LOVE that you can amp up the speed via a power rheostat. That kind of control is unheard of on a vacuum. I like the air bag assembly, seems easy to use, but to be honest, I am not done with the first bag yet. I like the foot-controlled release on the power head to switch to the wood floor attachment quickly. I like the color a lot and the big wheels can go over the cord without getting stuck. Seems to steer fairly well. I like some aspects of the power paw, the fact that it can do curtains and some upholstery.

  What I don’t like:

  Both the body of the machine and the power head have no rubber bumpers. I have some nice furniture and now have to be pretty careful on corners. The power head seems to rotate to the right and this is, I’m assuming, for ease on pulling backwards on it during use. But why doesn’t it rotate to the left as well? Odd. There’s no caddy (unless you count the odd one that attaches to the tube) for the attachments, especially the power paw. It seems that they could have easily made one for this machine. The power paw itself is somewhat misleading. There is actually zero electric power to it, it’s driven by suction which makes the brush turn. However, if you are working on a semi-flat surface, that suction stops and thus so does the mechanism. Why didn’t they just electrify it? I was pretty disappointed about that because it’s one of the main reasons I bought this for 50 dollars more than the competition. So, Wind Paw? Yes. Power Paw? No. I found that the power head does not have nearly the cleaning power of my old one and I feel this is due to NOT having beater bars on the rotating cleaning brush. I’m hoping the better suction makes up for this but we’ll see. The other attachments are just OK, but the crevice tool is not as long as my old one and the brush is not nearly as soft or nice, somewhat stiff, cheap plastic bristles. So, I’m keeping the old ones since they fit this vacuum. (Sears Kenmore Vacuum, circa 1979,for those interested.) I don’t like the fact that they ship this vacuum with ONE bag and force you to immediately buy bags which, (as others have stated) are hard to find. Without the internet, I’d be sunk. I don’t like the wood floor attachment as it is almost too wide and can’t fit into any smaller spaces.

  All in all, I’m happy with this and will get used to it’s shortcomings. I guess they just don’t make ANYTHING like they used to. I’d give it 3.5 stars if that was possible, so I guess you could say I like it more than I don’t. At least now my house is vacuumed.

  I used the “boss” 6 times and the belt broke. I was amazed that when I went to replace it I found that it is paper thin. (I had to go to 4 stores before I found a replacement at Wall Mart, and they only had one because I am sure it breaks all the time). I feel the it is also big and bulky. I also found that it is hard to release the upright position with the foot pedal, it is like kick starting a motor cycle! STEER CLEAR

  Read all the 1 and 2 star reviews, because they are completely accurate. This vacuum is heavy, and annoying to use. The foot pedal, as most reviews stated, did break almost immediately. The switch for carpet/bare floor also broke immediately, not that it did anything in the first place. This vacuum also creates a huge draft from the front, that actually blows things off my refrigerator, magnets and all. Don’t buy it.

  The Kirby vacuum we had spent a small fortune on 13 years ago finally went to its great reward and we were faced with replacing it. After doing much research (including the very helpful reviews here at Amazon) we decided on this model. After using it several times, we couldn’t be happier. It honestly cleans better than our Kirby ever did — I can’t believe what this thing picks up! We have two kids who are in and out of the house constantly with their friends and a long-haired cat so there is plenty to clean up after. The attachments are stored right on the vacuum so it’s very convenient and easy to clean an entire room (blinds, furniture, baseboards, etc.) while you’re vacuuming. I don’t think I will ever dust again — I’m using the vacuum for everything and love how clean it is when I’m done. We have a two-story home and we like it so much we bought another one to keep upstairs. At that price, it was worth it. It is no heavier than our Kirby was and I don’t feel it’s difficult to use at all. We have frieze carpet and it feels soft and brand new every time we vacuum it now — it really is amazing! The switch to bare floors is a little tricky — you feel like you’re going to break the lever because you have to push pretty hard — but after you get the hang of it, it works really well. My only complaint is that the hose could be a little longer to reach certain areas (high window framing, long flights of steps, etc.). Save your money and don’t buy more expensive models — this one does everything you need in a vacuum (and more) for an awesome price!

  I am disappointed with it’s size and weight. It is very hard to push and carry. The suction and the attachments work well. Overall it does the job, but it could do the job easier if it was not so heavy.

  The Eureka Smart-Vac is excellent. It really gets the dirt out of carpets. Only drawback - it is quite heavy. The foot release is not very smooth. It takes several pushes to get it to work. But, for the money, this machine cleans well.

  I’ve owned this Bissell PowerGlide Platinum upright for a few weeks and all I can say is ……. WOW !!

  This vacuum picks up everything and is super easy to use. I have several long-haired cats who do their feline thing of shedding and tracking cat litter. After using this vacuum on their messes, my carpet looks like it’s had a professional cleaning. The bare floor setting is great as well.

  The only disadvantage I’ve found is that the bracket for the power brush attachment is rather flimsy. Easily solved by storing the attachment elsewhere.

  Other “disadvantage” … I can not stop vacuuming with it as it is that great.

  I didn’t see in the ad where this vaccum needed to be assembled. It comes in a few parts and I still haven’t figured it out. I will be sending it back. For the few dollars you save buying it online, you lose more than that in time and aggravation trying to put it together, so better to just buy it from a store.

  I’ve only used this vacuum a few times but I am very pleased so far. I did notice at first a little difficulty pushing it on carpet at times, but I think changing the carpet height adjustment helped that. Most of the time it glides across carpet easily. It has great suction and is only a little noisy, much quieter than my last vacuum. Overall I am very happy with this vacuum. Now I don’t mind vacuuming!

  This vacuum pulled every bit of dust, lint, dog hair, and debris from my rugs. I love it! I’m not an allergy sufferer but my dogs are. When I used this product, their little sneezes stopped along with their constant scratching. And you can’t beat the price. Most vacuums that pick up at all are really expensive. This vacuum is inexpensive and gets the job done plus some. Thanks Bissell!

  KEEP YOUR DYSON AND OTHER OVER PRICED WONDERS THIS VACUUM IS THE BEST!!
  THIS IS MY SECOND BISSELL IN ONLY 8 YEARS. I WANTED THE POWER AND RELIABILITY OF THE FIRST MODEL BUT FOUND THAT THE BAGLESS MODEL WAS REALLY TOO MUCH WORK TO KEEP CLEAN AS THE MOTORS ON THESE UNITS REALLY GET ALL THE TINY STUFF YOU DON’T SEE BUT ADDS UP. WITH THIS BAG UNIT I JUST HAVE TO OPEN AND THROW IT AWAY.
  THERE ARE WONDERFUL AND USEFUL ON-BOARD ATTACHMENTS AND THAT SEXY LITTLE STAIR SWEEPER THAT MAKE CLEANING LESS OF A CHORE.
  NO CONTACT WITH THE ALLERGY CAUSING STUFF AND LITTLE MAINTENANCE.BRAVO BISSELL!!!

  I paid $[....] for this at a Costco. I’ve had it for 2 weeks, it overheats everytime that I use it! I’ve searched every possible place for a clog to be and there isn’t one. I called Hoover’s hotline they said it’s clogged I told them it wasn’t and the lady said it was and that’s all there was to it.
  I will never buy another Hoover or reccomend them to anyone. Thank goodness Costco is going to take mine back and refund the money.
  Use your money on a different brand with better customer service!
