I’ve had this vacuum for about 14 months and have no complaints. It’s not light, but most uprights in this category are not. I have no problems maneuvering this thing around on carpet/hardwood. I am still impressed with its suction power! Great for picking up loose hairs, food, and dust. I use it about once a week and have only had to change out bags every few months. A good buy at this price and recommended.

A GORGEOUS color, has a lot of great features builtin, but 2 major dealbreakers:
    1) it runs for about 3 minutes, then overheats and will not run for another 3 minutes until an hour or 2 later. NOT an effective way to clean a 3,000 square foot house. the thermal protection feature builtin is far too sensitive and makes the entire contraption USELESS. Maybe it runs well in Alaska - who knows.
    2) the cord is too short.
Did I mention though - it really is PRETTY? Unfortunately I also got blinded by that attribute last time I selected a wife and ignored all the other fatal flaws.
I’ll never buy EUREKA or a smoking hot Norwegian again - back to DIRT DEVIL and bookish librarians for me.

I bought this vacuum after using one at a friend’s home and I love it! It is small and lightweight but very powerful. I am constantly amazed at the amount of dirt and dog hair this vacuum picks up. I have used other vacuums that cost a lot more than this one and they didn’t have half the suction power of this vacuum. It works well on carpet and on bare floors and it actually gets the “stuff” that hides in corners and next to the baseboards. I also like all of the attachments that came with this vacuum. For the price, you really won’t find a better vacuum!! I have recommended it to several of my friends and they are happy I did. Regardless of whether you live in an apartment or a house, you really can’t go wrong with this vacuum cleaner.

This vacuum lasted just barely long enough for me to have no option but throw its carcass away and “eat the loss.” Sure it seems reasonably priced, and there’s no disputing that it’s lightweight and compact for the suction you get out of it–until it stops sucking. In my 43 years (25 of which include first-hand purchases of vacuums), I’ve never had a vacuum that died on me as quickly as this one did. Was it just bad luck? If so, then my low rating should be appropriately overwhelmed by high ratings from those who were not so unlucky. As I submit this review, this vacuum currently gets four stars from the Amazon population, so it appears that I was unlucky. Still, buyers beware. If you’re as unlucky as me, this vacuum will die more quickly than you can go through a handful of disposable razor blades. May you be luckier.

I bought this Eureka when my large vacuum was being repaired. I was surprised at how well it worked and how good my back felt afterwards!

If you are elderly or have a small place, this would be an excellent choice. It is also great for those “in-between” clean ups.

There are some easy-to-use features. A button on the top lets you switch from carpet to hard surface vacuuming without having to put the sweeper in an upright position. There is also a large knob that allows you to switch from floor to hose cleaning. It comes with three hose attachments and the handle retracts with ease for storage.

This vacuum is bagless. Make sure you dump out the canister after each use. I found that if you do not, it tends to get clogged easily.

Make no mistake…..this is NOT a heavy, “bells and whistles” type vacuum. Since most of my house is hardwood, I decided to try a smaller vacuum that would be easier to carry upstairs. This little vac has some serious sucking action! My housekeeper isn’t crazy about it because she has to empty the dirt cup too frequently. However, she vacuums the whole house at one time (including the wood floors). I usually don’t have time to do the whole thing, doing a couple rooms at a time…..so that doesn’t bother me. I still prefer my Swiffer Vac for my hardwood floors. I can’t decide if I’ll buy a second Optima for the finished basement, or if I’ll make my housekeeper happy and buy a larger vacuum for her to use, but I’m a fan of the Optima.

The Eureka Smart-Vac is excellent. It really gets the dirt out of carpets. Only drawback - it is quite heavy. The foot release is not very smooth. It takes several pushes to get it to work. But, for the money, this machine cleans well.

The Kirby vacuum we had spent a small fortune on 13 years ago finally went to its great reward and we were faced with replacing it. After doing much research (including the very helpful reviews here at Amazon) we decided on this model. After using it several times, we couldn’t be happier. It honestly cleans better than our Kirby ever did — I can’t believe what this thing picks up! We have two kids who are in and out of the house constantly with their friends and a long-haired cat so there is plenty to clean up after. The attachments are stored right on the vacuum so it’s very convenient and easy to clean an entire room (blinds, furniture, baseboards, etc.) while you’re vacuuming. I don’t think I will ever dust again — I’m using the vacuum for everything and love how clean it is when I’m done. We have a two-story home and we like it so much we bought another one to keep upstairs. At that price, it was worth it. It is no heavier than our Kirby was and I don’t feel it’s difficult to use at all. We have frieze carpet and it feels soft and brand new every time we vacuum it now — it really is amazing! The switch to bare floors is a little tricky — you feel like you’re going to break the lever because you have to push pretty hard — but after you get the hang of it, it works really well. My only complaint is that the hose could be a little longer to reach certain areas (high window framing, long flights of steps, etc.). Save your money and don’t buy more expensive models — this one does everything you need in a vacuum (and more) for an awesome price!

I used the “boss” 6 times and the belt broke. I was amazed that when I went to replace it I found that it is paper thin. (I had to go to 4 stores before I found a replacement at Wall Mart, and they only had one because I am sure it breaks all the time). I feel the it is also big and bulky. I also found that it is hard to release the upright position with the foot pedal, it is like kick starting a motor cycle! STEER CLEAR

I am disappointed with it’s size and weight. It is very hard to push and carry. The suction and the attachments work well. Overall it does the job, but it could do the job easier if it was not so heavy.

Read all the 1 and 2 star reviews, because they are completely accurate. This vacuum is heavy, and annoying to use. The foot pedal, as most reviews stated, did break almost immediately. The switch for carpet/bare floor also broke immediately, not that it did anything in the first place. This vacuum also creates a huge draft from the front, that actually blows things off my refrigerator, magnets and all. Don’t buy it.

What a great little vacuum! This little dynamo will amaze you. It took no tools and a few easy clicks to put together. I have wood laminate floors throughout my home and the Eureka cleaned the whole house. It has a narrow head which gets under cabinets, furniture and behind toilets. It is very light weight and easy to maneuver. It has an easy to clean dust cup which means there are no bags or belts to buy. The floor cleaning head pops right off to turn into a hand vac., great for pet hair etc. on furniture. The crevice tool pops right in for hard to reach nooks and crannies with the added convenience of the handle so no bending and stooping. I like the small head because it gets into small spaces that average vacs. cannot. It does not have a beater brush so it is perfect for hard surfaces and small area rugs. If you have carpeting or a large home to clean you may want a larger model with a beater brush. For the price you cannot beat it !SteamFast SF-292 Multi-Purpose Floor Mop and Handheld Steam Cleaner

This will not take the place of your big vac but is great for quick clean-up. We use it everwhere in the house and would love to have one on each floor. A must for every household. Great price and plenty of power.

i got the vacuum much faster than promised. it is a good little vacuum. perfect for my studio apartment. good suction. good size. not recommended for anything bigger than a one bedroom, but great for a small space.

Maybe this is how strong the suction in these machines is, but it was a great dissapointment compared to a full fledged vacuum cleaner. But, for what its worth, it does manage some decent cleaning
